Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1)

Twilight - Stephenie Meyer, Stephenie Meyer So! I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. I expected not to like this novel, because I’m so sophisticated and all that. ;o) I came home Friday night totally exhausted and brain-dead and decided that this would be the perfect moment to start reading Twilight. I read until my eyes gave out on me, picked the book up again Saturday morning before I had even finished the necessary amount of coffee to make it through the day. Didn’t put it down again until I was finished. Perfect day!Not a perfect book, though. Not by far. There were several “flaws” that threatened to get on my nerves, but all in all it’s really … sweet. That was just the right book at the right time...for me. I really enjoyed it even though I found it rather repetitive at times. I mean, how many times do I have to be told the changing colours of Edward’s eyes (yes, I got it! Black when hungry or troubled, amber/butterscotch/golden/whatever when satiated and happy. I really don’t need to read this again and again…and again...and yet again.) And concerning the “hypnotic language/style” that was mentioned on the blurb of my copy…what? Using present tense and past tense in the same sentence, but without the necessary connection or sequence…is that hypnotic? I find it rather irritating, but that’s probably just me wanting to read stuff that I was taught is good/correct English.Definitely a page turner. I’m sure I would have loved this book to pieces when I was 15…but those days are long gone. :o) And Bella’s obsession with Edward might have gotten on my nerves even back then. Yes, yes, he’s so unbelievably beautiful…I really got it after the first twenty times you said that. However, I’d like to thank Stephenie Meyer for the perfect little Saturday…I’m sure reading Twilight contributed to the fun …considerably. And for the sake of Edward and Bella, I hope that Buffy won’t stop by Forks for a long time. ;o)Honestly, I think I had so much fun with the book because it's really rather bad. :D
